Viv's Travel Tips: What Music Festivals are Back for 2021?

With new technological implementations such as temperature scanners, on-site rapid testing, and wristbands that vibrate when you violate social distancing, music festivals are starting to set new dates in 2021. Despite uncertainties due to the pandemic, festival goers are determined to start bringing live music back. These famous festivals are all over the world, and serve as quite a good excuse for a quick trip!

Here are some of the most prominent rescheduled music festivals in 2021, according to Billboard:

July 7-11: Mad Cool festival in Madrid, which has about 60,000 attendees, has announced a 2021 lineup featuring Twenty One Pilots, The Killers, Mumford & Sons, Deftones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pixies and many more.

June 2-6: Barcelona's Primavera Sound unveiled an ambitious lineup for its 2021 reboot. The 20th anniversary edition of the event will feature headline sets from The Jesus and Mary Chain, Tame Impala, Massive Attack, Pavement, The Strokes, The National, Beck, Tyler, the Creator, Gorillaz, Bad Bunny and more.

June 4-6: The U.K.’s Download Festival has rescheduled to 2021, with Kiss, Biffy Clyro and System of a Down set to headline.

July 2-4: Ireland's Longitude 2020 festival returns in July, according to the event's website. Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky and Tyler, The Creator were set to headline, and it remains unclear if they will also return for the 2021 festivities.

July 7-10: Lisbon festival NOS Alive has announced part of its lineup for 2021. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Angel Olsen, Fontaines D.C., Alt-J, Caribou and Two Door Cinema Club are all set to perform.

Aug. 26-29: The iconic British festival Creamfields 2020 rescheduled to 2021's August Bank Holiday weekend. Martin Garrix, Tiesto, deadmau5 and more artists already agreed to return for the festival's new dates.

Oct. 7-10: Aftershock Festival was pushed back one calendar year from October 2020, but headliners Metallica and My Chemical Romance will make the massive West Coast rock festival worth the wait.
